Maundy Thursday

At the Last Supper, just before Jesus was crucified, He ate and drank with His disciples as well as showed them His love by serving them in a mind-boggling way! In remembrance of this, we will be having an Evening Eucharist as well as learning from the example of Jesus, washing the feet of our ‘neighbour’.

We will also be holding a prayer vigil from the evening of the 18th until midday of the 19th. Please, come pray with us, even if its for an hour. You are so welcome!

Note, the service will be a 3 hour service, 6 sermons, hymns, songs, silence, and prayers. You do not have to attend the whole service, you are welcome to join us for one of the three hours.

Walking the Labryrinth

Walking the Labryrinth

Come along and experience the benefits of the Labryrinth as a tool to aid you in prayer. Not sure what a Prayer Labyrinth is? Not to worry, we will have lay ministers available to answer any questions you may have.

The Path at St Martin’s in-the-Veld is the installation of the Santa Rosa Labyrinth in celebration of the centenary of this church. Labyrinths have their origins in antiquity, probably ritualistic, possibly little different from our own meditative journey, and are well recorded in Greek mythology. A labyrinth usually has a single path leading to a destination; the design relates to wholeness with the combined imagery of spirals and circles in a meandering but purposeful path. The twists and turns create the charm and symbolism of the labyrinth – but there is only one path, one way in and one way out.

The labyrinth has no tricks, no decisions … one surrenders to the path, the spiritual path – the only decision is to choose God. We may face different directions, but we are all on the same path.

Men with a Mission

At times men have a desire to share with other men their spiritual beliefs, aspirations and feelings which cannot easily be shared in either a work or social environment. Men with a Mission resulted from this need and is a spiritually orientated, reflective group of Christian men.

In order to accommodate the pressures of daily life, the Group meets once a week on a Friday from 06:30 to 07:30 in the Church at St. Martin’s. If you would like to experience spiritual growth, support and being involved with the activities of the Church, you are invited to join Men with a Mission.

For more information contact James Martin 082 606 1228 or Denis Clark 071 325 8268. Join us: you will be welcome.

Alpha 13 - How can I resist evil?

After a great Holy Spirit weekend, where we connected with God on a deep level, through His Spirit, the Devil aims to destroy all that progress. He puts obstacles and temptations in our way. This week we look at how we can safeguard our new sense of full life by resisting evil.

Lent 4 - Know and Use Your Gifts

As we go through the season of Lent, we consider how to identify and use our spiritual gifts. You might be asking, “What are ‘spiritual gifts’?” Well, simply, it is a certain ability imparted to each one of us by God, to be used to benefit others. Find out more by checking out these passages of Scripture, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4:11-16, Romans 12:3-8.

We will be running the same theme through all our services.

Combined Alpha Weekend Away

  • St Martin's in-the-veld (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Ask anyone who’s ever been on an Alpha Weekend Away; chances are they’ll tell you that it was one of the most meaningful times in their Christian walks. The focus for the weekend is the Holy Spirit, who He is, what He does, and how we can be ‘filled’ with Him. We are so excited to see what God does this time around.

The youth and adults will be coming together for the camp.

The camp will only be beneficial if you have come to the other Alpha weeks. So, if you have missed out the other weeks, don’t worry, we will run Alpha again and we would love to see you there.
